Brandon & Christian
OCTOBER 21, 2023
Brandon and Christian met in undergrad at the University of North Carolina – Wilmington at the beginning of their Junior and Senior years. They texted non-stop for days before finally making plans to meet at Christian’s apartment. They spent the night laughing, and watching music videos, bonding over their love of music. Brandon quickly realized there was a softness behind Christian’s sarcasm and wit, while Christian was drawn in by Brandon’s ability to be so smart, and so goofy at the same time. Christian casually mentioned that he liked tigers, a detail Brandon wouldn’t let go unnoticed and started to plan their first official date. He surprised Christian by driving him to Myrtle Beach to see the tiger exhibit there, where they spent the day walking on the beach and eating too many desserts, mostly funnel cakes, on the boardwalk. It was this thoughtfulness that made Christian realize he was the one.
They spent 2 years after graduation living in New York City where every time they would walk past the Rockefeller Center skating rink, Christian would jokingly call out “Oooh someone’s getting engaged!” to the large crowds–another detail Christian forgot, that Brandon wouldn’t soon forget. Brandon asked Christian to marry him in the middle of that very ice-skating rink in 2021, with their family hiding behind the barricade to share in their celebration. They planned their ceremony in the location of their first family vacation after moving to North Carolina: Asheville. They fell in love with it instantly and knew it was where they wanted to get married.
The couple wed in October of 2023, surrounded by loved ones. They wore Cartier cufflinks and Louboutin tuxedo shoes gifted by their aunt and uncle. Even their dog, Hudson, was a part of the ceremony. Their first dance song was “Lover,” by Taylor Swift, and they danced the night away on a breathtakingly beautiful dance floor with friends and family. They feasted on chicken tacos, salty caramel truffles, chocolate dipped graham crackers with toasted marshmallows, filet and chicken for the main course, and (of course) a cake crafted with layers of citrus, vanilla, and raspberry.
Brandon and Christian spend their days doing what they love: taking Hudson for long walks or swims in the park, singing (but mostly screaming) to Taylor Swift, and caring for their many, many plants.
