My wedding day was the most perfect day of my entire life. I have had a plan in my head ever since I was a little girl. But then again, what little girl doesn’t? I knew I wanted it to be the perfect “cowboy” wedding. When I met my husband Jay, and we started to plan our special day my mind flooded with so many ideas. We both have been involved in the horse world since we were very young, so it was easy to think of ways to incorporate that into the wedding.

The wedding took place at Tara Creek in Faison, NC. We were married at the back end of the property, just beside a beautiful field. Amanda and Lee (the owners of Tara Creek) did an amazing job at helping bring our visions to life. You could tell just how much effort was put into the small details of our day. The venue was decorated with cowboy hats, boots, cowhides, and even hay bales at the altar. Our guests arrived in their best cowboy/western attire. Our pastor, James Harrelson, officiated the wedding, surrounded by our closest friends and family. The colors we chose for our day were turquoise and burnt orange, which were displayed beautifully with our flowers and table settings. For dinner, we had the traditional “pig pickin’” that included all the fixin’s that you would see at your family’s BBQ. Master Blend Family Farms did an amazing job at displaying the hog, and of course everything was delicious.

The one detail from our wedding that I will cherish forever is being able to ride my childhood horse, Nick, down the arena to meet my soon-to-be husband at the altar; it felt like my first love was walking me to my forever love. It was a day I will always remember and cherish in my heart.
