Selina & Daniel

OCTOBER 21, 2023

I was never the type to have a Pinterest board with what I envisioned for a wedding or engagement, let alone a ring. We had discussed marriage but never set a plan. The thing about Daniel is that he is good at observing the things I love. Daniel proposed to me in New York City, overlooking the Chrysler building–a city that I had always watched on TV, and he knew I loved so much. To others, this seemed like a long overdue engagement, since we had already been together for ten years.

We met Freshman year of high school. Daniel was the new kid at school who was sociable and had no trouble making new friends. But me? Well, I had a small group of friends and mainly stuck to my books. We were complete opposites. We had mutual friends but never acknowledged each other in school. The summer of Freshman year, I decided to message him on Facebook and the rest is history. To this day, he teases me for messaging him first, but I just had a crush on the new guy.

To bring us back to the engagement, we didn’t feel like it was overdue. Although we had been together for so long, we had only started to get to know and love each other as adults. Love was the focus when planning our wedding day. I wanted our guests to not only feel the love we felt for each other, but also the love we felt for them.
