On a steamy summer day in August 2013, we met at a bar in Richmond, Virginia. We knew right from the start that we had something special and were inseparable from that day forward. After an adventurous seven years together living in three different states and one year doing van-life, we knew we could make it through anything.
We moved to Asheville, North Carolina in September 2020 to put down roots in a place that aligned with our values. We got married on our eight-year anniversary on September 5, 2021 surrounded by our families at Earthshine Lodge in Brevard, NC. We never wanted a big wedding and decided to only have our immediate family along with our dearest friend (who was our officiant) be a part of a weekend-long celebration where we shared our lifestyle in the mountains with them. It was symbolic, intimate, simple and exactly what we wanted it to be. We feel grateful we put aside all societal pressures to create a celebration that was true to us. We encourage others to follow their own hearts and craft exactly what they want and not what other people want for them.
