Megan & Spencer

Three years ago, I was set up on a date by a mutual friend. I had no expectations when I walked in the door, but by the end of the night, I knew there was something special about Spencer. Our conversation flowed so well, and he left such an impression on my heart. I had a fleeting thought that he was the one meant for me forever.

Fast forward three years and many adventures later, Spencer took me up on my family land on Christmas Day. It wasn’t unusual for Spencer and I to make our way up to the property, but on that Christmas afternoon, something was different. In front of the cabin, he got down on one knee and promised to adventure with me forever. With a ring on my finger, we left and celebrated with family that night – we were engaged!

The fun began as Spencer and I started planning for our wedding day. I had dreamed my whole life of this celebration. The first thing we chose was our venue. Uptown Indigo in Shelby checked all my boxes for a venue – classic, modern, indoors (so we didn’t have to worry about weather), a bar on site, etc. My elegant vision was captured completely by white floral and greenery, elegant black and gold touches, and modern flair, thanks to Screen Door Diaries.

The day of the wedding, we chose to do a first look, and I cannot recommend this enough. Immediately my nerves were gone once Spencer and I had our private moment alone. I still got to walk down the aisle to him, and with tears in both our eyes, we walked hand-in-hand through our day. Bridal party portraits, family portraits, and laughter filled the next few hours as downtown Shelby was the backdrop for our photographs. We ended our pre-ceremony time utilizing the beauty of Uptown Indigo indoors. We split up for the last few minutes before the ceremony, and Screen Door Diaries made the moments up to walking down the aisle a peaceful transition.

Our ceremony was beautiful. One of our pastors from our church, Adrian Early, led us through our promises to each other. We went right into our cocktail hour with our guests on the floor above the ceremony. This allowed the ceremony site to be transitioned into our reception. Countryside Barbecue in Marion provided the appetizers while we celebrated with friends and caught up with all the people who joined us on our special day. The cake from Love and Butter baking company in Shelby was delicious. And Spencer could not help but get the cake all over my face (he is a jokester).

Our wedding was a dream. It was the start of our forever. We are so thankful to have found each other. I never thought my love story would look like this, and I am so grateful to have my best friend by my side.
